A Good Read
A fun read with a simple cautionary tale about what bad people can do with technology and the devastating impact they cause. If you liked Robin Cook's works, and I do, you'll enjoy this book The pace is quick and the ending won't disappoint. Nice to have a new physician/writer on the scene.

I read The Death of the Shadow Merchant on the heels of reading Grisham’s latest book, The Widow. Lots of similarities! Timothy Bullard, as a first time writer, wrote a great story that I found hard to put down. It flowed start to finish, reflects his ER Medical experience and research, and a strong use and knowledge of the legal systems at his disposal. Both books brought in the FBI to help bring the guilty to bear. Really well done. The is the 2nd first time author I’ve read in the last couple of years, the other being “Just East of Nowhere” by Scott Lehigh. Both Timothy and Scott appeared to leverage an actual place they were obviously familiar with to make their stories even more personal, and genuine. Tampa and Lubec/Eastport, ME.

Gripping and authentic in every way.
The opening paragraph grabbed my attention and I was hooked. I just couldn’t put the book down. The plot in this medical mystery was complex, with unexpected turn after turn. Each character was very well developed and provided a look at the plot from a unique perspective, both clarifying and adding to complexity of the puzzle. The author’s experience as a physician executive is apparent and makes the medical and healthcare system elements of the story reflect its current reality. A great entertaining read! Well done.

If you are in the market for a thriller!
The Death of the Shadow Merchant was a real thriller. I couldn't put it down. I loved the development of the characters and how they all came together. The story of a war veteran that is a father with PTSD, and his wife's death that possibly could be due to medical malpractice. It also is about an unethical lawyer that is involved with a Russian group that have a plot to make cases for malpractice that are false. There is even murder and attempted murder mixed in to the story. It leaves the reader racing to see what is next! I would recommend this book if you are looking for a thriller that keeps you guessing as to what is next and ending by bringing it all together. Loved it!

Exciting and enthralling medicolegal story!
As an emergency physician myself, I was quite intrigued by the title and immensely enjoyed this book. The characters were exceptionally well developed, the plot was quite interesting with lots of twists and surprises, and I was unable to put it down without finishing it. The story seemed very plausible given the current state of medical technology and the book revealed some of the implications regarding the workings of our present medicolegal environment. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, fun read.

Excellent Medical Thriller
As other reviewers have noted, this is a gem of a book and a real "page turner" that you won't want to set down. As a physician myself, I really appreciate the realism of the medical world portrayed and the plausiblity of technology run amok. The characters are believable both in their actions and their inner thoughts. The story moves swiftly from chapter to chapter taking the reader along for a memorable and exciting ride. Take note Robin Cook.

I’m still thinking about Jon Wesley! Need a sequel!
I loved this book! It kept me guessing and made me think about medical malpractice from both the doctor's and patient’s perspective. It also raised timely questions about the implications of living in a world where images can be easily manipulated. I was genuinely sad when the book ended and still find myself wondering how the main character and his kids are doing! (Always the sign of a good read!) I also had the pleasure of meeting the author, Dr. Timothy Bullard, at a book club gathering. Hearing about his experiences as an ER doctor added an extra layer of appreciation. His expertise and curiosity about life clearly shines through in the story.
